======Truro - Portable Ultrasound======

Portable ultrasound in Truro is provided rather informally by registrars. Requests for portable ultrasound get forwarded to the phone in the reg room, and it falls whoever is in the room and around to sort it out if needed.

If the request sounds appropriate and needs to be done as a portable, attend it out to the portable scanner code "RCMUS" which is kept in the ultrasound department main corridor. There are PACS ports in the ultrasound rooms to plug in and load the case, and download images when you are done. Given the clear inferiority of the portable machine, many prefer to use the SRU ultrasound ("RCUSRU") which is generally free in the afternoons.

Saving the patient list to the scanner can be a bit hit and miss, but if you start the scan while plugged into a PACS port, later at the bedside you can if you go to the "History" tab and then click the "Search" button button to find the aborted scan and restart it.
