Preparing to Start PROC

PROC can seem pretty daunting at first and is one of the big stresses of first year. While hopefully the reality turns out to be a breeze, this page exits to try to bring together what steps you need to do to be as prepared as possible for PROC.

To work on PROC you need to have access to the various site's PACS systems to get this set up you need to email all the various teams asking for an account:

• Torbay: tsdft.clinicalsystems@nhs.net
• Truro: cornwall.pacs@nhs.net
• Barnstaple: ndht.pacsristeam@nhs.net
• Exeter: rde-tr.coresupport@nhs.net

You also need to check you have access to all the relevant PROCuments - they should be all on teams these days. There is a theoretically a PROC email with a few useful resources which is part of the official process, but this isn't really widely used at this point.

Lots of what you do in the academy and in placements is really relevant and helpful for this, particularly on-call cases and on IP CT reporting, which I'd recommend you get involved in, but there are plenty of other good resources out there too. A few recommendations:

• Jack Looker's on-call cases folder - this is a folder on the Derriford PACS system which covers a wide range of on-call relevant cases - I'd recommend going through all of them, taking your time to properly formulate a diagnosis and report before looking at the existent report.
• If you prefer books - there is “On Call Radiology” by Gareth Lewis, which gives solid coverage to the basics.
