Derriford On-Call Shifts
Twilights
Hours: 1700 - 2130
Main duty is covering the phone with some reporting as able. From 1700-1900 you are supported by the EWD consultant and need to touch base with them in terms of what reporting to do. From 1900-2130 it moves to the on-call consultant.
Weekends
Two shifts: first and second on.
- First on: 0845 - 1715
- Second on: 1300 - 2130
First on turns up at 0845 and checks in in the Production Board Meeting which happens on teams. Following this they should touch base with the on-call consultant and radiographer to vet the list and try to sort out the day's work. Main duties are again dealing with the phones and the reporting as able.
Second on comes in later and also covers the phone and reporting, generally with more of a focus on reporting, and continuing the service into the evening.
The registrars are supported by an On-Call consultant who may be on-site or WFH. There is also a Cat 1 Consultant who is in reporting category 1 scans from 0900 - 1700, and an ultrasound consultant 0900 - 1300 - which should mean that needing to do ultrasound is extremely rare.
Evening Vetting
In order to avoid scans going to PROC in the evening vetting changes a bit:
Scans vetted after 1700 should immidiately assigned to the PROCREP silo if urgency is 3/5, and left in IP silo if 1.
At 1700 the EWD consultant is supposed to go through the outstanding 3/5 scans requested before 1700 and triage them to one of:
- Not required out of hours - downgrade urgency to 1.
- Required out of hours, delayed due to hospital delays - send to medica.
- Required out of hours, delayed due to patient condition - put in PROCREP silo for PROC reporting
